Sidai Designs

Extra small crystal hoops white glass and crystal beads

This collection of simple beaded products is a tribute to young Maasai girls, who sit with their mothers and learn to bead while singing songs. Until they are ready to marry, the young girls wear only simply strung beaded jewellery.

In a culture where women are often denied and education, these classes are invaluable.

Why we love it: Sidai Designs aims to empower the lives of Masai women in Tanzania and to celebrate and preserve Maasai beading techniques while elevating the traditional methods, giving them a contemporary aesthetic appeal.

Growing from just five artisans in a workshop down a dusty back road in Arusha, Tanzania, Sidai Designs has grown into a community of over 100 artisans and a big workshop space. They have also founded the Sidai Maasai Women Organization, a nationally registered NGO and the charitable arm of Sidai Designs. Discover the beautiful handmade jewellery of a brand with incredible values.
