Everyone knows how good it feels when your wardrobe is cleaned out in time for a new season. It not only enables you to find things again, but also helps you analyse gaps of what exactly you need before investing in anything new (or second hand). Everyone also knows that it's easy to postpone this task than to get it done. Here’s a light & easy guide for a bit of Marie Kondo magic you can use to clean out your current closet and work it back to the essentials that you actually wear and work with your lifestyle.
First, group items by category. Jeans with jeans, tops with tops, bras with bras, and so on. In general, we find this works best to organize your closet so things don’t get lost in the shuffle. As you start sorting, pull out some trash bags and make organized piles: Donation, resale, and tailoring. You can make an ‘unsure’ pile if you need one and take a look at this later. It’s important to be strict.
For those items that have stains, rips, frayed edges, and moth hole - goodbye. For items we haven’t been able to part with because they were too expensive, it’s best to accept that you made a bad choice and use it as a learning instead of hoping that by holding on to it we can justify the purchase. Why not pass it on to someone that will actually wear it?
Now that you’ve sorted through everything, it’s time to stay organized. When you can see and access what you already own, you’re less likely to acquire more of the same. Hang things back up, fold them lovingly, etc. While doing so, you will notice the gaps you’ll need for the perfect clean wardrobe.
It’s important to focus on quality, not quantity. Go for investment pieces such as well-tailored blazers, trousers and other trend-free items that will stand the test of time and fit with your life. Needless to say, it’s better to spend on one really nice piece than buy five crappy things that you kind of like.
Here are some investment pieces that are versatile, timeless and we think you won’t ever regret:
Woron Sleek Body - The elegant black bodysuit you know and love, made from Woron's super-soft and sustainably sourced modal blend. It fits perfectly snug and gives just the right amount to hold you in and flatter your curves. Added bonus, the material (modal) is produced in Europe and sourced from certified sustainable forests. All dyeing is free from synthetic chemicals and each garment is sewn in a small female-led family factory in Hungary, which provides benefits for working mothers.
Woron Black Onyx Bra - Woron’s signature pull on bras are: 1. Made from modal, a sustainable resource; 2. Three reasons you’ll want to buy them in multiples!
