Natural beauty and long time ambassador of SCOON, Angelique Janssen shares her night time routine, summer favourites and the key to looking out for toxic ingredients in beauty products.
What's your night time skin routine?
My night time skin routine is my favourite time of the day. It's my little moment to unwind and get ready for bed. I have a few essential products that I use every single night. I like to use a night cream by the Grown Alchemist - I always make sure to massage any places in my face that might be holding any tension and moisturise my arms and legs. I also love to fill my bedroom with scents before going to sleep. I add a bit of the aromatherapy balm by The|Tides Wellness on my neck and I sprit some of Evolve's pillow spray on my pillows for the ultimate effect.
How do you get your skin summer ready? Do you have a routine?
My skincare routine shifts slightly all year round, I adjust and try out new products whenever I feel like my skin needs a little extra of something. However, I use most of my products in both winter and summer. The only thing that really changes is my face cleanser - in the winter when my skin is slightly dryer, I opt for a cream/oil cleanser, as opposed to a gel cleanser that I use in the summer when my skin is more oily. I find this really helps my skin during both seasons.
If you could only use one beauty product during summer, what would it be?
Ahhh in the winter I would definitely choose for my cream blush by Ilia - I think it gives the most natural glow and it's the perfect shade of "sun-kissed" cheeks which I love. During the summer I barely wear make up because the sun gives you all the natural glow you need (and it's usually too hot and humid to wear make up anyways). The only thing I really use daily in summer, is my eyebrow gel.
What is your favourite beauty brand?
Until now I have loved every product that I've tried from Ilia. I currently use their mascara, super serum skin tint, cream blush and translucent powder on a daily basis! I love the consistency of their products - it's perfect for that natural and effortless make up look, and also it feels good to know that their products are made with really great ingredients. My skin used to get so irritated by other make up brands and break out a lot. So far I have not had any problems with Ilia yet (and it's been about 6 months!). My skin has never been this good while also wearing make up regularly.
How do you look out for toxic ingredients in beauty products?
It's a cheesy answer but it's the truth - I just browse around SCOON now, really! I used to be Googling everything and trying to figure everything out, but sometimes that is harder than it seems. With SCOON I can just browse around and read their simple and easy-to-understand descriptions. It makes the search for new beauty products so much easier.
