Instead of spending money because ‘it’s such a good deal’, we hope that you stand with us and support brands that truly care about people and the environment. Buy quality over quantity. Something that not only makes you happy, but is made fair and responsibly.
This week, we take the opportunity to encourage conscious shopping and give back to the environment at the same time. We want to make Black Friday Green! That’s why we’ve teamed up with EarthToday and pledge to protect 1 m2 of nature with every order from now until the end of this year.
Of course, everyone loves a good deal - we do too. We promote seasonal sales because we want as many people as possible to buy into sustainable goods and we hate to see leftover stock. There are a few amazing brands with sales on that you can shop here.
We are partnering with EarthToday, a very cool Amsterdam based initiative, to accelerate global nature protection. We are joining their community of change makers to increase awareness on the state of the planet and to help get 50% of our planet protected by 2050.
According to scientists, 50% of the Earth’s surface needs to be protected in the next 30 years to safeguard the bulk of biodiversity, yet only 10% is currently protected. Enabling the protection and restoration of ecosystems is a key solution to biodiversity and climate emergencies. Even by protecting 5% more land, we can triple the impact of current biodiversity conservation. Plus, nature conservation projects are a sustainable alternative income for local, rural and indigenous communities.
Between now (23 November) and New Year’s Eve 2020, €1.20 per order will be used to save 1m2 of nature. The funds will be used to connect nature protection organisations, charities and brands to co-create an engagement program to protect nature as part of restorestation projects around the world. Plus, once donated, we can virtually visit our protected m2 and explore the area on earthtoday.com! Pretty cool, right?
We are excited about this partnership and we look forward to keeping you informed of the progress and location. And who knows, this could be the start of a more longer-term initiative for us going forward.
